Common type rating for the A350 XWB, and Airbus A330

Airlines and pilots will both benefit from the Common Type Rating pilot training on the A350 XWB and A330 jetliners, further extending Airbus’ concept of flight operational commonality between its fly-by-wire aircraft families.

The rules means that pilots who are qualified and current on the A330 can commence their preparations to take the A350 XWB’s controls by undergoing differences training.

This saves both time and money for A330 pilots that can do the A350 XWB differences training in about 8 days.

And for airlines it also a benefit having pilots rated on both the A330, A350 aircraft.
